MARCH MESSAGE
THOUGHT FOR THE MONTH: “Every time you smile at someone, it is an action of love, a gift to that person, a beautiful thing.” Saint Mother Teresa
We begin the holy season of Lent on Ash Wednesday, March 5th. March is the third month of the Gregorian calendar, often associated with the arrival of spring in the Northern Hemisphere, which begins on March 20th. While the Bible does not specifically mention the month of March, it is a time that can be linked to various biblical themes and events, particularly those related to the changing of seasons, renewal, and preparation for significant religious observances. March often marks the transition from winter to spring, symbolizing renewal and new beginnings. This theme is echoed in Scripture, where God promises renewal and restoration. God declares, "Behold, I am about to do something new; even now it is coming. Do you not see it? Indeed, I will make a way in the wilderness and streams in the desert." (Isaiah 43:19) This verse reflects the hope and renewal that spring brings, as well as God's power to bring about new beginnings in the lives of His people. Just as plants begin to grow and bloom in March, we are encouraged to grow spiritually. We are encouraged to "grow in the grace and knowledge of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ." (2 Peter 3:18) This growth is like the natural growth seen in spring, emphasizing the importance of nurturing one's faith and relationship with God. So, as we “spring ahead”, let us be grateful for the gift of life and be conscious of the changes around us; trees beginning to bud, flowers starting to sprout, and the birds sing their songs of spring. May our Lenten journey be one of prayer, fasting, and almsgiving. God Bless!
